Our Policy Work

Dr. Katariina Rosenblatt and Survivor Leaders of There is H.O.P.E. for Me speaks at Congress on critical issues such as preventing human trafficking on social media, stopping trafficking in school zones, and advocating for the end of child and forced marriage. Her powerful testimony and insights help shape policies aimed at protecting vulnerable populations and driving systemic change.

Prevent Trafficking on Social Media

Under the Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2023, to ensure equitable access to funding, it's recommended to revise grant making procedures. Many survivors lack the skills to navigate complex grant applications, leaving them vulnerable to exploitation. Modifying the system will remove barriers and create equal opportunities for survivors and survivor-led organizations

Stop Human trafficking in School Zones

Dr. Kat's 15+ years of experience in school outreach revealed alarming rates of human trafficking recruitment: 1 in 3 middle schoolers and 1 in 9 high schoolers. She advocates for mandatory, survivor-informed education in schools nationwide, emphasizing the need to equip students and staff with the knowledge to identify and prevent trafficking. This education should include a standardized curriculum that defines human trafficking and provides specific examples of how to recognize recruitment tactics

No Forced or Child Marriages In America

Child and forced marriage is closely linked to sex trafficking, as it often involves coercion, exploitation, and abuse of vulnerable individuals, particularly young girls. In these situations, victims are frequently trafficked for sexual purposes under the guise of marriage, stripping them of their autonomy and subjecting them to a life of control and exploitation. Ending child and forced marriage is critical to preventing trafficking and protecting human rights.
